Hair Jewel by forgedirony Hair Jewel by forgedirony
I made this last year to wear to a formal party. Made from wire and beads, and it clips to your hair with a slider bar under the flowers. The slider is diguised by making it the same colour as my hair. Comments and crits welcome.

I absolutely LOVE this! So beautiful! I read above that you were considering making them for other people, just out of curiosity , how much do you think you would charge for one like it?

It would depend on what sort of materials someone wants in them... but on average about $40 australian I'd say. Maybe $50 if I have to ship it overseas.

Very nice work!
I like the idea of making the slider bar the same color as your hair.

I just noticed that you are from Melbourne, Australia, well, I work in Melbourne Florida! :)

Is your Melbourne a good city too?

It's got it's good points, and it's bad points...
It's a pretty average town.
But it is close to a lot of fun stuff, like an hour from Disney World, and an hour from Kennedy Space center, and 10 minutes from the beach.
How's your Melbourne?

My Melbourne is a city on a bay, and it has a huge amount of cultural and arts stuff, like galleries and theatres and all sorts of cool stuff. It's called the world's most liveable city, but I'm not sure if that's actually an official award.

Our Melbourne is on a river (that I think is "tehnically" a very long lake) and sounds similar to yours for atrs and culture, only less a bit grand.
It's also pretty much liveable, but not the "Most Liveable". ;)
For a year Jim Morrison of the Doors actually lived there and went to High School! It's also known for some other stuff, too, but not as widely known as your Melbourne. :)

Very cool! And even though I'm a yank, I know about "good on ya" :D

Totally unrelated, but I also like those peacock feathers in the background. A home without peacock feathers is not really a home.

hehe, yeah i love feathers. I'd love to get my hands on some pheasant feathers and also a lyrebird tailfeather. lyrebird as in "liar"bird, because it mimics all sorts of noises. It is incredibly strange to be hiking through the bush, and then to hear a train coming. I've also heard it make the noise of a camera shutter going off, and the film winding!! but the feathers are really hard to come by.

Feathers are cool!

Are you familiar with the British band XTC? They have a song entitled "I Bought Myself a Liarbird"... I didn't realise that there was such a thing as a lyrebird... it sounds hilarious!

Saw you didn't have any comments on this so I thought I'd add my two cents. Very pretty piece and well done in my opinion, not something that everyone would be wearing which makes it better. Very Lord of the Rings-ish, good on ya:)

thanks!! i knew by your comment that you'd be kiwi or aussie, coz no yank would say "good on ya". Welcome to DA by the way, hope to see you around more often.
